In this edition of Hartree Insights we introduce some of the members of our team.




What is the Hartree Centre? Well, it’s all about the people. 

Alison Kennedy - Hartree Centre Director

Alison joined the Hartree Centre as Director in 2016, bringing over 30 years of experience in software development, project and product management and institute management to the team. Alison’s role is to ensure that Hartree delivers on its mission to boost UK competitiveness by facilitating and accelerating the uptake of data-centric computing and cognitive technologies. 

David Holder - Partner Services Manager

David is responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of the Hartree Centre’s varied portfolio of projects as manager of the newly formed Programme Support Office. David has been at the Hartree Centre since 2014, but has previously worked at STFC designing (amongst other things) parts of the Diamond Light Source. Prior to that he worked in industry for 13 years. David’s priority is to ensure the Hartree Centre’s projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the delight of our partners.

Karen Lee - Head of Impact and Engagement

Karen joined the Hartree Centre in 2015, bringing over 13 years of marketing, communications and stakeholder engagement experience to the team. Karen’s role is to develop and execute strategies and programmes which raise Hartree’s external profile and engagement with clients, partners and staff, as well as to ensure that the Centre demonstrates its impact and benefits to industry and the UK economy.


Robin Pinning - Chief Technology Officer

Robin joined the Hartree Centre in February 2016. With a 20-year track record of senior roles within the computational science industry - including being a co-founder of N8 HPC - and having started out as a computational chemist, his role at Hartree is to further develop and drive the technical strategy of the Centre to support its business objectives and research partnerships.
