Hartree National Centre for Digital Innovation Progress Report

Following the launch of the Hartree National Centre for Digital Innovation (HNCDI) in June 2021, the STFC Hartree Centre and IBM are continuing to develop innovative solutions to real industry challenges. The HNCDI programme uses powerful computing techniques, world-class expertise and one-of-a-kind infrastructures for UK businesses and public sector organisations to adopt digital technologies like supercomputing, data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum computing.

In 2025, the Technopolis Group completed the third evaluation of the HNCDI programme across key areas geared towards the support of collaborative R&D projects through Explore, Excelerate and Emerging Technology and delivering training and SME Engagement through Explain.

HNCDI will continue to make a substantial socio-economic impact through our unique ability to translate cutting-edge technology research into applicable, tailored solutions for the industry challenges at hand.
