The STFC Hartree Centre is pleased to announce that Dr Robin Pinning joins this week as Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
As CTO, Robin's mission is to further develop and drive the technical strategy of the Hartree Centre to support its business objectives and research partnerships.
Robin said: “I am very much looking forward to joining the Hartree Centre team as the centre embarks on a new phase and period of growth.” Says Robin, “This is a very exciting time for advanced technologies and their widening adoption. With Hartree at the forefront of the application of HPC, data analytics and cognitive computing to industrially and academically relevant domains, this is a fantastic time to join as Chief Technology Officer."
The Hartree Centre specialises in the acceleration of industrial R&D through tools including high performance computing (HPC), data analytics and cognitive technologies alongside a technical provision for international academic computational science and research communities.
Robin joins Hartree with a 20-year track record of senior roles within the computational science industry, so is well-placed to take on the challenge of maintaining and developing the centre’s position as a world-leading centre of computational excellence.
Starting out as a computational chemist at the University of Leeds, Robin has worked for a variety of academic and scientific organisations and taken the lead in various computational research projects including the EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council) e-Science initiative, CSAR (the former UK National HPC Service), and N8 HPC (a regional HPC centre for the North of England), of which he was a co-founder.
