Hartree–Livermore joint webinar on Computational Science
20 May 2022

The Hartree Centre and the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) are launching a new webinar series intended to spur collaboration with industry through discussions on computational science, high performance computing (HPC) and data science.

LLNL.jpgThe first Hartree–Livermore joint webinar on Computational Science (HLCS) takes place 24 May 2022, where speakers from the Hartree Centre will present industrial collaboration efforts and technical work.

Hartree Centre Deputy Director, Michael Gleaves, will provide an overview of the Hartree Centre. He will cover its approach to industrial engagement and its efforts in applied research and innovation aimed at helping industry adopt HPC, data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. The talk will feature case studies of successful public/private projects.

Hartree Centre Chief Science Officer, Vassil Alexandrov, will then outline the centre’s research focus areas and highlight collaborations in exascale computing and scalable AI. Case studies will cover scalable hybrid stochastic/deterministic algorithms for linear algebra, modelling and simulation in fusion, surrogate modelling and environmental modelling. Alexandrov also will identify possible areas for further collaboration between LLNL and Hartree.

The webinar series is sponsored by LLNL’s High Performance Computing Innovation Center and is open to the public. Future HLCS events will be added at a later date.
