Building on IBM PAIRS technology, we have developed a proof-of-concept platform for researchers, app developers and farmers. Researchers are querying a range of relevant public data-sets, including elevation, land-use, geology and weather, and augment these with proprietary data sources such as Vertical-Looking Radar from instrumented farms. The data is fed into predictive models to track the spread of crop-threatening pests such as moths. An example web-app interface allows farmers to generate a `moth forecast', allowing them to reduce pesticide use.
